This rosé won the plaudits of the top judges making up the panel of this prestigious international wine challenge.
Señorío de Sarría Viñedo No. 5 has been awarded a Gold Medal at the Berlin Wine Trophy. This international wine challenge is the largest in the world and takes place under the patronage of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV). Held every year in Germany, it brings together renowned wine experts from across the world.
Bodega de Sarría is proud to have received this award and with it the recognition of top experts in the international wine sector. During ‘blind’ tastings the judging panel rated over 17,000 wines coming from 29 countries. The organisation’s regulations only allow 30% of the wines presented to be awarded medals. Only the best wines therefore win these awards.
Señorío de Sarría Viñedo No. 5
This is a fruity rosé wine made from the Grenache grape variety. The grapes were harvested by hand at the estate’s Viñedo No. 5 plot at Puente la Reina, just alongside the pilgrims’ route to Santiago. The plot is planted with low bush vines of over 50 years’ age. After a stringent sorting of the grapes, the must is extracted using the traditional ‘saignée’ method, a process which requires skill and great care and attention in order to achieve the right degree of colour during the vinification process.
The wine displays an intense crimson colour. The nose reveals hints of red berry fruits, such as strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants. On the palate, the wine is fresh and very fruity, flavoursome, deliciously easy-drinking and with good volume and length of flavour.
Bodega de Sarría’s commitment to maintaining and increasing its surface area of Grenache vines at its estate has been justly rewarded by the numerous medals won over the years by this special Viñedo No. 5 rosé wine.
The care and attention lavished on this wine throughout the whole of the wine production process have earned this rosé wine international recognition in the form of a Gold Medal won at the Berlin Wine Trophy challenge.
