This pale, fresh, cosmopolitan Navarra rosé, made to follow the latest market trends, has won the plaudits of top experts who attended this renowned international wine challenge.
Bodega de Sarría was awarded a Gold Medal for its modern-style rosé at one of the leading international wine challenges: the Berlin Wine Trophy 2021. This wine challenge, one of the largest in the world, is organised every year in Germany under the patronage of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine(OIV) and brings together renowned experts from all over the world.
This gold-winning wine, which belongs in the highest ranks of the Navarra appellation, offers a different style of rosé. It is produced from 100 hectares of vines owned by Señorío de Sarría in the areas of Puente la Reina, Olite and Corella.
A key feature of this rosé are the two grape varieties chosen for the blend, Grenache and Graciano, which give the wine its elegant, pale, lavender-pink colour. The versatile Grenache offers fruit character and elegance, while the Graciano brings freshness of flavour.
Being awarded gold at this important international wine challenge was a thrilling reward for Bodega de Sarría. “We are very proud to have won this Berlin Wine Trophy medal. Every year, the finest, most rigorous producers take part in this particular wine challenge,” pointed out Milagros Rodríguez, Bodega de Sarría’s winemaker. “For everyone in the team at the winery, it’s a real thrill and also a great incentive. It comes as a reward for the work we’ve been doing on a daily basis throughout what has been a difficult year for every sector. It’s also a boost which enables us to look forward with optimism as we continue along our path, looking after the vines and wines with care and attention and reaching for the highest quality in each vintage,” she continued.
The Berlin Wine Trophy has become the biggest wine challenge in the world and the most important international wine tasting event in Germany, supported by, and under the patronage of, the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (O.I.V.) and the International Union of Œnologists (U.I.O.E.)
In this winter edition, over 7,000 wines were registered to take part, representing 40 countries from across the world, and with a judging panel of 140 independent tasters. Over 12 days, this expert judging panel, made up of œnologists, wine specialists, experienced wine merchants, vine-growers and wine critics, classified the samples during a blind tasting, rating each of them out of 100 points, according to the norms and directives of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine and under notarial supervision.
Unlike other wine challenges, only 30% of the wines tasted were awarded a medal. Thus, only the best wines tasted enjoyed the privilege of receiving a Berlin Wine Trophy award.
